Jules Ladoumègue Sport complex
The Tennis Courts are part of the Jules Ladoumègue Sport complex that was awarded a Bronze medal in 2015 by the International Olympic Committee.
They have been designed by Dietmar FEICHTINGER, Austrian architect established in Vienna and Paris, well known for his audacious projects (including the new road-bridge to the Mont Saint-Michel).
The building is 260m long. It hosts 6 tennis courts and is built above maintenance workshops. Its mass and size are used to protect the neighborhood from the noises of the heavy traffic on the periphery. Its West façade is therefore submitted to two very aggressive factors that are rarely compatible with the usage of light façades:
- External loud sounds
- Huge amount of solar input.
Dietmar FEICHTINGER found the solution by designing a double skin made of CONTROLITE on the outside and DANPALON 30mm on the inside. The result is a very energy efficient building with an outstanding level of comfort for the daily users.
Inside view : Both inner walls are made of DANPALON 30mm, providing thermal insulation, sound absorption and tennis balls impact resistance. The wall on the right is double glazzed with CONTROLITE. The one on the left is externally covered by static wood louvers.
External view : The West façade (2500m², 9.5m high) features 260 units of motorized CONTROLITE panels acting as sound and solar heat barreers, on top of their architectural appealing.

The inside skin of the façade, the Danpalon® 30mm, reinforces the Ug value of the façade allowing this double system to reach a performance of 0.75 W/m².K (louvers closed ; 0.85 W/m².K louvers opened).
Concerning the composition of the systems, both are composed of pure polycarbonate (both panels and integrated louvers), in which a maximum of 10% of recycled polycarbonate is used. The usage of pure raw material (no additives) enables the panels to be 100% recyclable.
Also, as all DANPAL systems are delivered cut to size, this limits considerably the wastes on site.
DANPAL panels feature a very strong UV protection insuring the durability throughout the years. They have undergone series of durability tests to assess their aging process and their resistance to impacts.
